Flood menace in Bardera District

Flood menace in Bardera District, Bardera town was today affected after a heavy torrential rain which lasted for almost nine hours with Bardera town and its surrounding villages encompassed with a stream flashing back river water as a river has already got filed to the brim,

 Obviously this caused flood in Bardera town mainly WABERI village KURMAN and Musawa village of Bardera were the most affected. Moreover the flood caused no death but fifteen injuries were reported and 3000 Households were displaced after their properties were all destroyed. According to the interagency emergency meeting by the local and interagency meeting in the district who carried the need assessment, the situation was totally disastrous and requires an emergency intervention

 HIRDA a local NGO in the area issued logistical support to the displaced while the rest took part in carry out need assessment. In the light of the above the interagency meeting came up with the following discussion based prioritization for humanitarian intervention

Are the following: -

-        Safe and clean water.

-        Mosquito net (LLIN)

-        Food

-        Shelter

-        Non food items (NFI)

-        Medical assistance (EPI)

-        Flood protection tools

This flood problem is always recurrent and therefore needs a technical approach in competing this kind of pandemic which leads to various side affect rising mortality and morbidity rate in the district

Current those displaced have integrated with others under thus caused burden to the host family as the rain has just started in the district fear of more displacement death and others might erupt leading to humanitarian catastrophe if the situation is unresolved

Local and International NGOs in the area are requesting urgent humanitarian intervention.

Names of LNGOs and international NGO who participated in this interagency meeting are: - HIRDA, ICRC, SRCS, WDC, SORDE And BADA.
