It was the first school of its kind opened in  Abud-waq  since the collapse of Somali government. SRF ( Somali relief Fund) based  in Indianapolice U.S.A. played a great role and still contributes much in running of the school.

In 2001 HIRDA and SANA agreed to co-operate closely specially in the field of education. From that on Abud-waq primary school is jointly financed by both organisations. The school attendees are 860 from grade one to seven with twenty teaching staff including the headmaster. In a years time it is expected that group will finsh primary education. Women’s Empowerment Center

During these hardship years,  Somali women tried and succeeded that their voice must be heard. Therfore they are now in a position that they can play a role in Somali’s civil society, peace and reconciliation and reconstruction of new Somalia. They  are organised and have their own local women councils.

HIRDA is encouraged by the progress of the Somali female Society and supports their movement and intends to help them to boost their moral and capacity. Therefore HIRDA allocated small amount of fund so they can carry their activities and meet regularly. The fund covers rent of the center, stationaries and other important related activities..
